Donation Terms & Conditions

Westrand United Academy Fundraising Policy  |  Effective Date: 17 October 2026

These terms and conditions govern financial donations made towards the Westrand United Academy Land Acquisition and Infrastructure Development Campaign. By donating, supporters acknowledge the campaign's stated objectives and the terms applicable to their contributions.

1. Purpose of donations

The primary objective of this campaign is to raise R6,000,000 towards acquiring suitable land within the West Rand region of Gauteng, South Africa, and supporting the development of a permanent football academy.

Donations may be used for the following purposes:

Reasonable, properly documented expenses directly associated with administering the fundraising campaign may also be paid from unrestricted campaign funds, including payment processing charges and approved professional fees.

2. Property selection and acquisition

Westrand United Academy reserves the right to evaluate and select suitable properties within the West Rand region.

Property selection will take into account legal ownership, title deed verification, accessibility, infrastructure availability, development potential, environmental conditions and financial affordability.

The academy will not be obligated to purchase a particular property solely because it has been featured on the fundraising website.

3. Reallocation of donations

Donations made to the general Land Acquisition and Infrastructure Development Campaign will be treated as unrestricted within the campaign's stated purposes, unless a specific restriction has been accepted in writing.

If the academy acquires land at a lower cost than anticipated, receives donated land, or cannot proceed with a particular property acquisition, remaining unrestricted funds may be allocated to other qualifying academy infrastructure projects.

Such expenditure must remain consistent with the academy's governing documents, charitable objectives and applicable legal obligations.

Donations specifically restricted to land acquisition or another defined purpose will not be redirected outside that purpose without the donor's consent or other lawful authority.

4. Fundraising target

The initial fundraising target is R6,000,000. This amount represents a preliminary estimate and may be reviewed as property prices, acquisition costs and development requirements become clearer.

If the fundraising target is exceeded, additional unrestricted contributions may be allocated towards the academy's approved infrastructure development projects.

Any revision to the fundraising target will be communicated through the academy's official website.

5. Donation refunds

Donations are generally intended as voluntary contributions towards the campaign's stated objectives.

Refund requests will be considered in accordance with applicable law, the payment provider's rules, the donor's agreement and the circumstances of the donation.

A refund may be appropriate where a payment was made in error, a duplicate transaction occurred, or the academy cannot lawfully apply a restricted donation to its agreed purpose.

Donors may submit refund enquiries through the academy's official contact channels.

Refunds are not automatically guaranteed merely because the academy selects a different property or changes the allocation of unrestricted funds within the disclosed campaign objectives.

Such agreements may address sponsorship recognition, branding opportunities, naming rights, reporting obligations and the intended use of funds.

No donor automatically receives ownership of academy property, decision-making authority or naming rights by making a donation.

8. Project timelines

Land acquisition and infrastructure development depend on successful fundraising, property availability, legal verification, regulatory approvals and construction feasibility.

The academy cannot guarantee a specific completion date. Progress updates will be provided as significant milestones are achieved.

9. Privacy and donor information

Personal information collected through the fundraising platform will be processed in accordance with applicable South African data protection legislation, including the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

Donor information will be used for legitimate purposes such as processing donations, issuing acknowledgements, maintaining financial records and communicating about the campaign where permitted.
